Guided Imagery
Allow yourself to settle in by exhaling.
Soften your body. Soften your face.
Exhale.
Exhale.
Noticing what your body feels like. The prominent sensations, the areas that are most notable to you.
And asking yourself what emotions, what thoughts are dominant right now?
What am I feeling in this moment?
and noticing one that might be considered a negative feeling or thought or emotion.
Where do you feel this in your body?
If you can find a general area or maybe a very specific spot, noticing what that sensation is like, noticing what that thought feels like.
Perhaps even the expression on your face changes as you focus on this particular sensation.
and going to that area, seeing if you can soften it. Maybe not it specifically, but the areas around it, the periphery, just the edges.
Can you soften them? Allow them to become a little more fuzzy.
A little less sharp and hard.
Even gently saying to yourself to the sensation or thought soften and if possible that softness moves in towards the center of it, the core of it.
Soften it.
Noticing if it's changing in any way.
Noticing if your relationship with it is changing in any way.
We soften.
And if you can maybe put your hand on that area or just anywhere on yourself if it's possible allow your skin to rest on your own skin.
Feel the touch. Feel the warmth of it.
The pressure of it.
Maybe move your hand around in a very tender way, allowing your own hand to bring ease and soothing sensations to this place.
allowing yourself to say words of comfort to yourself.
Maybe something like, "It's okay.
I'm so sorry you're feeling this way.
I'm here for you."
Allow the words to come as if you were soothing a friend, a loved one, or a child.
Allow the words to be comforting.
Use the touch as if it was a hug, a warm, empathetic embrace.
Noticing if anything happens as you continue to comfort yourself and allow whatever is happening to happen.
Acknowledge that your feelings are real and true at this moment.
Acknowledge that the soothing may have an effect on you.
And allow yourself to release anything that might be there.
You can go back to the same spot and softening it, easing it, comforting yourself with words and touch, and giving yourself permission to feel whatever is here.
At this moment. Even if it's changing, permission for it to change.
You can continue to be in the same place, area, or thought, or you can move to a different one, taking as long as you need.
You have the ability to be of comfort to yourself.
You have permission to feel these things.
You have permission to feel compassion for yourself, to feel vulnerable.
You have permission to just be and feel what is real right now.
Allow yourself to be whatever it is right now.
