I love being an instructor at the European Massage Therapy School so much! Future Las Vegas massage therapists are learning anatomy and physiology from me from a humanistic model. That means I'm their science instructor, but I'm also teaching them resilience as well as the basic principles of neuroscience and behavioral change.
Humans learn best from a holistic learning model. So learning in my classroom is multi-faceted. We play games, do movement, win prizes, listen to guided imagery, have guest lecturers, and apply modeling clay to skeletons. In this way, multiple memory subsystems are engaged during the learning process, so students are more apt to retain the information.
Activating multiple senses helps my students encode, store, and retrieve data better. I'm not there to just help them pass their MBLEX exam (I mean, I am, but that's just the bare minimum of the job), I want them to retain the information and encourage them to be curious about ways to expand their expertise long after they have graduated from the EMTS program. If I can help shape the Nevada massage industry by inspiring students to practice with passion, integrity, and curiosity, then it is my honor.
The students at EMTS are eager to learn, and I feel completely supported by the school's program director and staff.
It's a great place to learn.
