When you hear the word “massage,” you might immediately think of a spa setting with calming music, dim lights, and the feeling of stress melting away. While that’s certainly one kind of massage, not all massage sessions are designed the same way. At Luckygirl Bodywork, I offer more of a therapeutic approach that goes beyond relaxation, helping clients address deeper physical needs.

What is a Spa Massage?
A spa massage is all about relaxation. The atmosphere is designed to help you unwind. The therapist will probably play soft music, soothing scents, and gentle pressure that encourages stress relief. It’s an excellent choice if your main goal is to take a mental break, release tension, and recharge emotionally. Massage naps are totally a thing and I know lots of people who like to just relax and check-out during their spa-style massage.
What is a Therapeutic Massage?
A therapeutic massage on the other hand, is tailored to your body’s unique needs. During a therapeutic-style massage I work with clients who may be experiencing chronic pain, stiffness, or limited mobility. Using specialized techniques, therapeutic massage can release muscle tightness, improve circulation, and restore balance. This approach is less about pampering and more about lasting comfort and pain relief.
Why Choose Therapeutic Massage?
If you’re dealing with recurring discomfort or want to improve overall function, therapeutic massage offers benefits that last beyond the session itself. My goal is to help you move with greater ease, feel less pain, and support your body’s natural healing process.
The Bottom Line
Spa massage and therapeutic massage both have value, but the right choice depends on your needs. If you want relaxation, a spa massage may be best. If you’re looking for results that help your body heal and perform better, then my therapeutic massage sessions are designed with your long-term well-being in mind.
